Hi there! my name is Farners, I live in Gerona and I am the mother of three children, of which two of them have been breastfed. Since I was a mom for the second time in 2009, breastfeeding has been my great passion. I decided to become a lactation consultant so that I could help all the families in need. When a baby is born, he asks to be next to his mother and what better way than to do it as what we are, mammals.

My mission is to listen, support and help moms and dads overcome their breastfeeding challenges. Thanks to my experience, I have all the tools to guide you and your family to achieve the results you want.
As a certified Lactation and Complementary Feeding Consultant, I aim to earn your trust and work together to teach you what is necessary and essential to initiate, maintain, or prolong successful breastfeeding. When a baby is born, he already has the survival instinct and the sucking reflex, but a mother has to be guided and taught the different practices for correct breastfeeding. Today there are many false myths about breastfeeding, they confuse us and make us feel that we are not capable of raising our children naturally, as has been done since the human species exists.
Breastfeeding helps us prevent a multitude of diseases for both the breast and the baby. It is natural, comfortable and inexpensive.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

WHEN WILL I HAVE MILK?

As soon as your baby is born, you already have milk. Colostrum is the first milk your baby needs, there is little but enough. It is rich in antibodies and provides the first defenses and helps in the elimination of meconium (the first blackened stools).

DOES MY BABY EAT ENOUGH AMOUNT?

A baby will take 8 to 12 feedings a day. He will have a bowel movement and will urinate frequently. He will be reactive and will gradually regain his birth weight. If you offer the breast frequently, you will have more milk and will regain the weight sooner. Remember that the final part of the intake is where there are more nutrients. Let me empty my chest well.

DID I JUST REMOVE MILK, CAN I MIX IT WITH WHAT I HAVE IN THE FRIDGE?

No. If you have freshly expressed milk you will first have to leave it in the fridge until it is cold and at the same temperature as the other. As long as it is within 24 hours, later you can mix them.

DO I HAVE TO WARM BREAST MILK  BEFORE YOUR TAKING?

It is better to keep the milk at room temperature or if you want to heat it to a maximum of 36 ° C.  It is more or less the body temperature and therefore the temperature  breast milk comes out.

CAN I USE A MICROWAVE?

To defrost better than not. To warm it could be done with care  that all the milk has the same temperature. All and that is best done with a container of hot water or under the tap.

CAN I MIX BREAST MILK AND FORMULA MILK?

Yes, but it is possible that the baby will not finish it and  it has to be thrown away. Better to offer breast milk first and then formula.

HOW SHOULD I PRESERVE BREAST MILK?

FRESH:

Fresh milk: In the fridge for 3 to 5 days. Do not store on the refrigerator door.

Fresh milk at room temperature: 4 hours.

Fresh milk that will later be frozen: 24 hours in the fridge and then freeze.

FROZEN:

Milk frozen at (-19 C °): 6 months

Milk frozen at (-4/5 C °): 3 months

Milk frozen at (-20 C °): 12 months

DEFROSTED:

Thawed milk in the fridge: 24 hours

Thawed milk  with hot water: Up to 2 hours after taking. It cannot be refrozen.

HEATED:

Heated milk that the baby has been partially taken: 1h and cannot be reheated.

Then it will have to be thrown away.

Heated milk and the baby is not drunk: 2h and it cannot be reheated.

WHEN CAN I START SUPPLEMENTARY FEEDING?

From 6 months. The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends: Exclusive breast milk up to 6 months, the introduction  of complementary feeding without abandoning breastfeeding until the first  year old  and keeping it up to 2 years or more.

TESTIMONIALS

Hello, my name is Laia, I have been a mother for the second time 15 days ago. With my first child, I came to think that I had no milk, all and following the recommendations of different groups of midwives and lactation consultants, I never managed to exclusively breastfeed my son. With my second child, the pediatrician immediately put me in contact with MAMAA MATERNITAT, who was by my side (literally) guiding me until I got an exclusive and abundant breastfeeding that made me feel very proud of myself. Thank you very much Farners for your invaluable help !!

When my little one was born I was clear that I wanted to breastfeed, but I did not inform myself too much, naturally I thought that it would not have any type of complication. I got cracks and my baby started not gaining enough weight. I contacted MAMAA MATERNITAT and  Farners taught me all the necessary practices to continue with my breastfeeding and I breastfed my baby, up to one year of age. Due to work, I had to wean and she also helped me to do a respectful weaning. I am very grateful, thank you very much Farners.

The day you get pregnant, you are filled with a joy that I will never know how to explain in words.

If the pregnancy goes well, that's how mine was ... IT'S MAGICAL! How I miss him now, and suddenly I have you in my arms..ufff! Here begins the adventure of being a mother. Throughout the process there have been a thousand moments to ask, to receive advice and not want to listen to it, the decisions on how to manage motherhood are put into motion

In my case it is time for the chest, what a pain ... !! What a concern ... !! And above all how much ignorance. Once you leave the hospital, you go for a check-up and they tell you that your child is not gaining enough weight, from then on the advice ceases to be advice to become impositions on how to feed your child and you think: milk?

And suddenly you fall ...

But your Farners arrived, you changed the direction of my thoughts and this was how we discovered little things that we could do better and above all you let me know and trust that all women CAN breastfeed if we believe so.

Farners advised me, pampered and cared for me, with experiences and advice learned.

Today I am the mother who decided to breastfeed and after the storm she succeeded.

Thank you so much for the advice, I would not have succeeded!
